“At the Challenges Group, we believe that economic empowerment is the vital step in driving performance and income, enabling people to play their part in driving a just and inclusive transition to a sustainable green economy where everyone can thrive.

Founded in Scotland, since 1999 we have worked in over 70 countries and supported more than 5,000 enterprises to grow their positive social and environmental impact.

Directly, these enterprises have created thousands of sustainable jobs, supporting tens of thousands of families to thrive. Indirectly, these enterprises have provided life-changing products and services to many hundreds of thousands of people as an integrated part of their local economy.

We believe we won’t help solve the biggest global challenges by trying the same things and expecting different results. Innovation needs to drive our progress with the Sustainable Development Goals, as 2030 fast approaches. For us, innovation is a state of mind, not just a tool. We are inherently curious and we challenge existing approaches; adapting ideas and models to apply them in new contexts to maximise impact.

2024 marks our 25th anniversary as an organisation but in some ways it feels like we’re only just getting started. We have mapped out our most ambitious strategy yet – a roadmap for the next four years which will accelerate our mission to help deliver better solutions to global challenges by improving the performance of enterprises.

In a volatile and ever-changing global context, our work has never felt more vital. Please join us on our journey as we look forward to the next chapter in our story.”
